Ahh, I did it. At 4:04 in the morning, I finished my new novel. At first I was a bit dismayed as 4 is a particularly unlucky number in Chinese culture (my book has a lot of Chinese symbolism and superstitions interwoven in it) but then I remembered double 4 equals 8--a very, very lucky number! So I am taking it as a good sign.
So, as a reward I am tempted to do one of the following:
1. buy myself an iphone
2. book myself an hour long massage
3. buy myself some pretty jewelry
Really, I am tempted to do all three, but I think budgetary restraints will force me to go with the last option. Who knows, though? I'll decide after I get some sleep. 8 hours of it.

I woke up this morning to my wife crying a little bit. And I wondered what the heck was going on she had been reading your book the year of the rat.
My daughter Lucy had made me buy for her, having been born in the year of the rat.
